Auštrevičius has urged the European Commission to immediately assess the statements made by officials of the Russian Federation claiming that the EU countries are carrying banned goods through Lithuania into Russia.
Auštrevičius said that this is not the first time that Russia has applied discriminatory measures ruining Lithuania’s transportation business and seeking to harm Lithuania’s economy by limiting export of the EU’s goods. According to the MEP, Lithuanian carriers are incurring huge losses every day, are losing orders from partners and EU Member States. Thus the European Commission was asked to immediately take all possible actions to make Russia lift discriminatory measures on the movement of the EU goods.
