Lithuanian PM sees no possibility to reduce VAT on meat

“I think as the geopolitical situation is tense at the moment, which also affects the economy, introduction of additional exemptions would reduce budgetary revenue even more. Then we would not be able to meet our financial obligations. We must remain reasonable and focused, and cannot apply such exemptions,” Butkevičius told the Žinių Radijas radio.

Amendments to the Law on VAT were registered by MP Petras Gražulis. The amendments were initiated by a group of parliament members, including Labour Party’s Vytautas Gapšys. They propose to apply 5 percent VAT rate on fresh meat and edible meat offal.
