Grybauskaitė said during a meeting with President Giorgi Margvelashvili that Georgia “has been ambitiously implementing the reforms set and has been regarded as the leader of the Eastern Partnership”.

“The president also underscored that it was necessary to keep the momentum of reforms going and to continue strengthening independence of the judiciary and law enforcement, freedom of speech as well as fighting against corruption,” her press service said in a press release.

Grybauskaitė is in Tbilisi for festive events marking the 100th anniversary of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia.

The president’s office uses “Sakartvelo”, an alternative name for Georgia recently approved by the Lithuanian language watchdog, in its official press release.

Grybauskaitė also reiterated Lithuania’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Lithuania strongly denounces the annexation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
