“No matter how difficult the situation is, we cannot blame and shame each other. We need to find together consensual solutions, because Europe is about understanding and agreement, not about enforcing, beating and using the instruments, which had never been used before,” Grybauskaitė said during a discussion in Davos, where she is attending the World Economic Forum.

“Recently, we saw examples of institutions trying to imply, enforce by force some decisions, which (…) gives a very bad image to the population in some countries,” she added.

The participants of the discussion on Central and Eastern Europe also included Polish President Andrzej Duda and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

The EU is considering imposing sanctions on Poland over its controversial judicial reform.
