In a resolution adopted on Tuesday, the Seimas supported the European Affairs Committee’s decision that the European Commission’s proposed revision of the remuneration rules does not comply with the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality.
The Seimas committee has said that remuneration is an area that fall exclusively within member states’ competence.
Under the so-called “yellow card procedure”, if at least ten of the EU’s 28 national parliaments have a negative opinion about a legislative proposal, the European Commission is forced to reconsider it.
