Lithuania’s market of alcoholic beverages has hit decade-lows. Over the first half of this year, retailers, bars and coffee shops sold 4% less alcohol compared to the same period in 2015, shows Baltic Drink Industry Alliance data.

Downward trends in alcohol demand have been recorded in Lithuania for many years. Over the last decade, the market has contracted by 30%.

During the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year, exports of spirits increased by 5% and now account for one-fifth of total sales. Most exported spirits go to Poland, Latvia and Estonia.

Lithuania’s production is transported to more than 20 destinations, including countries like Iraq or Sweden.
