The country’s honorary consuls took part in meetings with President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.
This year’s convention has brought together 153 honorary consuls from 68 countries around the world. Lithuania has a total of 220 honorary consuls in 94 countries.
The consuls’ meeting with Grybauskaitė focused on the geopolitical and security situation, energy independence, global economic trends and challenges facing the European Union, the president’s press office said.
Skvernelis briefed the consults on the country’s economic situation and ongoing structural reforms.
The heads of Lithuania’s diplomatic missions and consular offices, in Vilnius for their separate annual convention, are scheduled to meet with Grybauskaitė and Skvernelis on Tuesday.
They will also listen to a report by Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius.
The diplomats are also to meet with the EU’s top Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, who is to visit Vilnius.
