Raklevičius headed the Aviation Base in northern Lithuania for three years.
Matulaitis joined the Armed Forces in 1999. Before the appointment as the Aviation Base chief, he was the deputy command of the Air Force Staff for operations.
The function of the Aviation Base is to ensure performance of the Šiauliai Military Airfield, host Allied forces, perform command and control procedures for air-policing functions and other operations carried out from the Šiauliai airfield, as well as provide search-and-rescue services for all users of the Lithuanian air-space.
