NATO jets scrambled 5 times to intercept Russian military aircraft near Baltics

Two of the intercepted aircraft were reconnaissance and the other three were transport planes, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense said.

They were all flying without using the onboard transponder and keeping radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre, and some of them had no flight plan.

The NATO air policing mission is performed from Lithuania and Estonia.
