During the visit, Stoltenberg and Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaitė will visit the Air-Space Control Centre in Karmėlava, which accommodates the joint control and reporting centre of the three Baltic states. The centre’s main function is to perform air defence operations, including command of the fighter-jets of NATO member-states serving in the Baltic air-policing mission.
The two officials will discuss regional security and defence, the situation in Ukraine. Other topics will include implementation of the collective defence instruments approved at the latest NATO summit in Wales.
