On Tuesday, the parliament gave a green light to the proposal of conservative MPs Mykolas Majauskas and Ingrida Šimonytė to slightly raise wages for trainee doctors. After an attempted revote and opposition protests, the ruling parties agreed to recognize the ballot, however, voted against it in the ballot on overall adoption of the bill.
The amendments to the Law on Medical Practice were supported by 63 parliamentarians, eight were against and 57 abstained. Among those against were members of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and the Social Democratic Labor group, as well as Petras Gražulis of the Order and Justice party.
