The statement was signed by Algirdas Sysas, Gintautas Paluckas, Julius Sabatauskas and Andrius Palionis. These politicians were left surprised when on Tuesday it was announced that the SocDems have traded the Ministry of Social Security and Labour for the Ministry of Economy. They state that such a proposal was not discussed within the party or with other members of the Social Democrat negotiation group.
It turns out that on Tuesday, still before the meeting of “Peasant” and SocDem negotiators, a separate meeting was held with A. Butkevičius and I. Šiaulienė representing the SocDems and Ramūnas Karbauskis with Saulius Skvernelis representing the “Peasants”.
This meeting was where it was decided that the Social Democrats would officially be in charge of 3 of 14 ministries – justice, foreign affairs and economy.
Earlier the Soc Dems had decided to push for the possibility of being in charge of the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, where they could take up decisions that would improve the faltering public image of the LSDP.
Delfi sources suggest that this four person meeting also decided on one ministry which would apparently be shared.
