ISO 20121:2012 Event Sustainability Management System standard is applicable for any type of event or event-related activity and to any organization that wishes to establish, implement, maintain or improve an event sustainability management system. In order to offset the direct and unavoidable carbon emissions from event organization, Business Sweden plans to plant around trees in Lithuanian forests, after the event.
This year companies and individuals are encouraged to apply for nominations in three different categories. The prize Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year will be given to a company for the best CSR social or environmental initiative implemented during 2014 or 2015.
Sustainable Growth Award will be given to a harmoniously developing company with turnover growth with positive results during 2010-2015 and contributions to environmental and social sustainability.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year award will be given to an entrepreneur with a good reputation and an inspiring and sustainable business that makes an impact on the market or society at large.
The event serves as an annual platform for discussions and a source of ideas and inspiration for entrepreneurship, sustainable business as well as responsibility towards environment and society. It is also a meeting point for decision makers and corporate leaders represented in Lithuania to exchange views on business challenges and achievements as well as discussions on the development of even stronger ties between business in Lithuania and Sweden.
The application procedure in Lithuania is open. Companies and individuals are invited to apply for the Awards or nominate any other entity active in the country, before the 11th of September, 2015. Companies do not have to be Swedish capital in order to apply for the Awards. Nominations are open for all companies/organizations/institutions and individuals, active in Lithuania.
Finalists will be selected by Nomination Committee and announced in mid-September, 2015. Winners of the Swedish Business Awards 2015 will be selected by Decision Committee and announced during a ceremony on the 8th of October, 2015 at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society.
Each year the Award’s ceremony is honored by a special guest – a world famous business thinker. This year’s guest speaker is Dr. Kjell A. Nordström who was recently named one of the world’s most influential management gurus.
Recently Dr. Nordström and Mr. Per Schlingmann, communications consultant and former politician, published a book Urban Express. In the book the two authors show how knowledge, globalization and how our time real blockbuster – the City – affects the conditions for people, businesses, and how the world can be controlled.
They state that even today, it is cities rather than countries that compete for everything, from investments to talent. The urban is the new black. Multinational corporations are multi urban businesses. The cities are developed to mingels where everyone is invited, but where competition for seconds in the center is razor sharp. At these mingels talent, capital and ideas meet. The new and unique wins.
