Ukraine plans to set up park for Soviet monuments

“We plan to find a place for all monuments of the totalitarian regime. They will be collected there and people will be able to see them,” he told a press conference.

The Ukrainian minister said the country plans to follow in Lithuania’s footsteps after the Baltic state collected monuments to Vladimir Lenin and other pieces of art to totalitarianism and they are all now displayed at Grūtas Park near the southern resort of Druskininkai.

“This is what we want to do in our country,” the Ukrainian minister said.

Nyshchuk underlined that the country’s incumbent government opposes chaotic dismantling of Soviet monuments.
