“Our objective is to continue to demonstrate that NATO is indeed the strongest political and military alliance that the world has ever known,” Captain Bryan Adams told journalists.
In his words, joint exercises with Lithuanian troops are aimed at deterring “any aggression and show that NATO will be unwavering despite any threats to our alliance and will continue to stand together”.
The US sent company-size contingents to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia last April in response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and troops are rotated on a regular basis.
The last rotation in March consisted of around 150 US troops and they also brought around 20 vehicles with them, including five battle tanks M1A2 Abrams.
