Wild Boars to be counted in Lithuania to stop African swine flu spread

The African Swine flu has been detected in 26 locations across Lithuania.

However, according to hunters, the counting of wild boars at this time of year will be accurate, because boars usually give birth in March. Environment Minister Kęstutis Trečiokas is promising to review the order.

In order to reduce the population of wild boars, the state is paying to hunters for culling wild boars. The government is offering a €50 payment for one year old females and a €100 payment for older boar. In addition, anyone who finds a wild boar carcass will receive a €30 payment under the plan.
