Over 17,000 young people left Lithuania in 2013

Lithuanian citizens aged 14-29 made almost a half of all emigrants, with the majority choosing the United Kingdom as their destination.

At the start of this year, there were 617,200 people aged 14-29 in Lithuania, comprising 21 percent of the entire population, compared to the EU average or slightly more than 19 percent.

Youth unemployment in Lithuania is decreasing. It stood at 17.1 percent last year, compared to 19.6 percent in 2012.
