“I can really assure everyone that the president feels well,” Professor Feliksas Jankevičius, head of the Urology Center at Vilnius Santariškės Clinic said. “His vitals are normal, and he’s already started drinking and eating. Today, I cannot say anything bad about the president’s health.”

Adamkus remains in the intensive care unit and will be moved to a regular room on Monday. He should be discharged later in the week.

“The president remains in the intensive care unit because his vital functions are still being monitored and also other signs,” Jankevičius said.

Adamkus has been undergoing treatment after cancerous cells were found in his right kidney three years ago.

He was Lithuania’s president in 1998-2003 and 2004-2009.
