According to BNS, the proposed legislation outlines basic principles of online voting, procedures for voters to verify or retract their votes, measures to ensure secret ballot, voter identification as well as requirements for the would-be online voting software.
The Lithuanian Seimas, parliament, has already rejected several bills on introducing online voting.
A public survey last May revealed that the majority, 56 percent, of the population favour online voting as an alternative to the traditional procedure of physically coming to the polls to vote.
