The decision was made in response to economic growth in the country. It had also been endorsed by the so-called tžTripartite Council which includes representatives from trade unions, employers and the government.
The minimum wage increase will affect more than 60,000 public sector employees and around 240,000 employees in the private sector.
Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius said: “Further minimum wage increase remains an objective of the coalition, but in the future, as it was done now, the government will first take into account the financial situation and economic growth, as well as feedback from small and medium-sized businesses and the Tripartite Council.”
The last time minimum wage was raised was in July.
