The service, a cooperation between Google and Vilnius municipal public transport administrator Susisiekimo Paslaugos, launched on Thursday, allowing people in Vilnius to use Google Maps to plan their trips not just by car and on foot, but on public transport as well.
“A trip planning tool like Google Transit allows people to plan their journeys to the minute, at the same time encouraging them to use public transport more often,” Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius said in a statement.
Google’s Baltics marketing head Regimantas Urbanas adds that the new service will make the Lithuanian capital’s public transport more accessible to foreign visitors.
