Cost of buying goods from abroad to rise for Lithuanian consumers

From the first of May all consumers will have to pay more for purchases from non-European Union countries.

On May 1, 2016, the new EU Customs Code will enter into force and the new code means that the cost of shipping will be added to the price of the shipped goods and import duties will be calculated from that sum which will make goods from non-EU countries more expensive for consumers.

Moreover, the price of postal services representation in customs – €8.69, will also be added to the price before the taxes are calculated.
