6 – San Mames
The last of the list of the largest stadiums in Spain has a capacity for 53,289 people and is very modern, since it opened in 2013. Located in the Basque Country, more precisely in Bilbao, it is the home of Athletic Bilbao and successor to the old San Mames.

5 – Mestalla

It is located in Seville and is the home of Real Betis Balompie. It was opened in 1929 and has a capacity for 60,721 spectators. It takes its name in honor of a Galician industrialist, who was president of the club between 1955 and 1965.
The Betis stadium underwent several major renovations, such as that of 1958, when the north and south bleachers were expanded – then removed. Before the UEFA regulation that obliged all stadiums in Europe to offer seats for spectators, Benito Villamarin had a capacity of 47,500 people.
3 – Wanda Metropolitano
It is one of the largest stadiums in Spain and also one of the most modern, since it opened in 1994. Since 2008, it has been owned by Atletico Madrid, and is located in the district of Rosas.
With a three-tiered grandstand that forms three continuous rings, the Wanda Metropolitano has a capacity of 67,829 spectators.
The original stadium, nicknamed ‘La Peineta’, was used as a sports city in Madrid and had a capacity of only 20,000 people. After its acquisition by ‘Aleti’, several works were carried out, including the construction of bleachers where the athletics track was located.

The home of FC Barcelona – located in the district of Les Corts, Ciudad Condal – was opened in September 1957 and currently has a capacity of 99,354 spectators. It is the largest in Europe and the third in the world.
Its total capacity changed over time: in the beginning, it allowed 90 thousand fans, but for the Spanish World Cup in 1982, that number increased to 120 thousand spectators after the construction of the third grandstand.
