Eight Syrian refugees arrive in Lithuania

“Eight Syrians were brought from Greece yesterday”, Interior Minister Tomas Žilinskas said on Tuesday.

The group includes a family of four, a family of three and a single person, he said, adding that the latter person was a journalist interested in Lithuania’s English-language media.

Thus far, Lithuania has relocated 19 of 1,105 refugees, whom the country has pledged to take over two years, starting from 2016.

The European Union has agreed to resettle 160,000 refugees and has moved 8,000 of them as of May.
