Estonia to host NATO cyber training field

“The creation of a NATO cyber practice field in Estonia means that NATO exercises cyber training will take place in Estonia and NATO cyber security experts will be trained,” said Mikser. “This will increase the footprint of the alliance in Estonia, and even more international cyber security-related expertise is consolidated here.”

Cyber training field is a virtual environment where cyber security training can be carried out, from specialists to the strategic decision-making level.

The training field, located in Tallinn, can be used by NATO as a whole, as well as by all the member states for their cyber exercises and training for military units.

The training area will be built on the basis of the Estonian Defence Forces cyber training field. Founded in 2012, it is a unique practice environment among NATO European allies where several international and high-level cyber training exercises have been held. The training field is used by NATO’s biggest cyber defence exercise Cyber Coalition, and NATO cyber defence cooperation centre exercise Locked Shields.
