Lithuanian officials are currently processing some 70 applications from refugees in Greece, Turkey and Italy, Interior Minister Tomas Žilinskas has told LRT.
Decisions have not been made yet about resettling these applicants, however.
Lithuania has agreed to accepting 1,105 migrants under the European Union‘s refugee resettlement programme. Over the first six months of the programme, only 11 people from Syria and Iraq have arrived in Lithuania.
Under the programme, EU countries has agreed to distribute 160,000 refugees to ease the strain on Italy and Greece. So far, however, only about 8,000 migrants have been resettled.
