On Tuesday, a delegation of 10 truck drivers from the Lithuanian National Road Carriers organisation Linava joined an international protest outside the European Commission‘s headquarters in Brussels against new protectionist EU laws which carriers say will restrict their work in the common economic space.
Truck drivers from Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Ukraine and Bulgaria joined the rally to express their dissatisfaction with the new laws affecting salaries of the drivers working in Germany or France.
The proposed regulation would make employers who send their employees to Germany and France subject to minimum wage requirements in these countries.
