“The answer here is very clear – the Russian Federation, its administration and army that supplies arms must take responsibility. This is intelligence information confirmed by NATO sources, it is very specific – the number of troops from Russia is on the rise; furthermore, heavy munitions, tanks and armoured vehicles from the Russian army are used along with staff capacities, air-space control capacities. This is a Russian war on Ukraine,” Linkevičius told the Žinių Radijas radio on Wednesday morning.
He also emphasized that the shooting in the port city of Mariupol might be labeled a terrorist act. “It can be considered a terrorist attack, as it was aimed specifically at civilian targets. I don’t know any other way of calling it. How many more people would have to die to make it clear that the red line has been crossed?” the Lithuanian diplomacy chief asked rhetorically.
About 30 civilians were killed and more than 90 incurred injuries during shelling of Mariupol, a port city in southeastern Ukraine, on Saturday. The Ukrainian government and international observers say the missiles were fired from a territory controlled by Russia-supported separatists.
