“Taking into account certain experiences, we cannot discount any possibility, including a possible invasion,” he told the Žinių Radijas news radio on Thursday.

He says he understands why Ukraine is suspicious about almost 300 trucks of humanitarian aid, as Russia says, sent by Moscow to eastern Ukraine.

The Lithuanian foreign minister says suspicions were even more reinforced following an incident last week when “armoured fighting vehicles were spotted, repainted into the so-called Russian peacekeeping colours and waiting on the border.”

According to Linkevičius, Russia must first stop supplying weapons to pro-Russian separatists, if it wants to resolve the ongoing crisis in eastern Ukraine.

“After sending terrorists, constantly supplying heavy weaponry, that charity shipment looks odd. We definitely cannot trust what Russia says,” the foreign minister said.
