Lithuanian soldiers participate in multinational exercise Saber Junction 2014 in Germany

In the Joint Multinational Readiness Centre in Germany, in the training area near Hohenfels, more than 250 soldiers from the Lithuanian Land Force and assigned elements along with the NATO allies and partner nations are training to carry a wide range of military operations.

During the first phase of the exercise, scheduled for 24-30 August, the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf staff together with assigned specialists of different fields from other units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, US Pennsylvania Army National Guard and the 173 Airborne Brigade are conducting military planning procedures and preparing combat order of the brigade.

Its effectiveness will be checked in tactical tasks conduct in the training area during the active phase of the exercise to be held on 31 August – 10 September. Continuous tactical tasks and battle control will be focused on attack, defence and stabilisation operations.

During theoretical and practical training soldiers develop skills in tactics, driver training, medical assistance, air support, intelligence, evidence collection, counter-improvised explosive devices, and other areas.
