Lithuanian troops end helicopter pilot training mission in Afghanistan

On Tuesday, a formal ceremony was held at Kandahar Airport to mark the end of the mission, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence said.

“Having lasted for more than three years, the AMT mission is over. The 7th shift of troops who came to Afghanistan six months ago are going home, being sure they have accomplished all assigned tasks in training helicopter pilots of the Afghan National Army,” Major Antanas Matulis, the group’s shift commander, was quoted as saying in the ministry’s statement.

The Lithuanian troops are coming back on Thursday.
