New commander hopes to attract 3,000 to serve in Lithuania’s volunteer force

“Naturally, these are marginal numbers and the matter of the budget but if we doubled the number over the next five years, it would be fantastic. But if 2,000-3,000 troops joined, it would still be very good,” Jasinskas said in an interview with BNS this week.

Currently, the National Defence Volunteer Forces have around 4,400 troops, and the country’s army has around 8,000 professional soldiers.
