In her words, “the situation in Ukraine is worsening,” and “direct and actual de facto incorporation of eastern Ukraine into the Russian territory has been started.”
Grybauskaitė dismissed the introduction of the Russian ruble in the territories seized by Moscow-supported territories as a rude insult.
“This is direct occupation of the part of the country,” the Lithuanian leader told Brussels journalists upon arrival at the European Council.
“Without doubt, the sanctions will have to be stepped up and increased, any reduction is out of the question,” Grybauskaitė concluded.
