Ukraine invites Lithuania to invest in waste management and solar energy

Ukraine is interested in Lithuania‘s experience in efficient use of natural resources, development of waste management system, development of solar energy and would like to work more closely with Lithuania, said Environment Minister Kęstutis Trečiokas after meeting with Ukraine’s Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak.

The meeting was held in Batumi, where the two ministers participate in the UN Ministerial Conference Environment for Europe.

The Ukrainian minister also noted that there were possibilities to develop solar energy in the zone around Chernobyl.

Both ministers agreed that Lithuanian entrepreneurs will be invited to participate in the solar energy development projects in the Chernobyl zone. Lithuanian companies will be invited to invest in the waste management sector as well. Ukraine is also interested in Lithuania‘s packaging waste deposit system.
