Lithuania’s Labour Exchange reports the growing number of new jobs and decreasing unemployment in March.
Last month, the number of job seekers registered with the Labour Exchange went down about 6,600 month-on-month, totalling 160,800, or 8.9% of the country’s working-age population.
Meanwhile employers reported nearly 30,000 new jobs in March, or 38% more than in February.
New employees are sought in the forestry industry. Employers are also looking for truck drivers, traders, marketing specialists, cooks, construction workers and welders.
Ignalina District reports the biggest unemployment rate, at 17.5%, followed by Lazdijai (15.8%) and Kalvarijos (15.2%).
Meanwhile Elektrėnai, Šiauliai and Vilnius had the lowest unemployment rate, 5.3%, 6% and 6.2% respectively.
