“Our aim is to win 20 mayoral seats. In the local elections, we expect to receive around 250,000 votes, the same as in previous general elections,” he told BNS after a meeting of the LSDP Council.

The LSDP expects to win the mayoral race in Šiauliai. As to other major cities and towns, the aim is to do better than in previous elections, he said.

The party currently holds mayoral seats in 22 municipalities.

Lithuania’s first-ever direct mayoral elections will be held in tandem with elections of members of municipal councils on 1 March.
