A third of Lithuanians say their life got worse last year – BNS/RAIT survey

Economists say that the results of the survey show that last year’s growth in average incomes failed to offset people’s discontent with rising prices.

Older people on lower incomes and the unemployed were the most likely to say that their financial situation had deteriorated, which indicates that social exclusion continues to increase.

Fifty-three percent of those polled said that their financial situation had not changed in 2017 compared with 2016. Thirty-two percent said it had worsened and 11 percent said it had improved. Another 4 percent said they had no opinion.

RAIT polled 1,006 people aged between 15 and 74 years on December 12 to 21.
