“I will resign from the post of Seimas vice-speaker. The second thing is that I am not running for leadership of the Social Democratic Party. Thirdly, I will turn to prosecutors to open a probe into my activities,” Bastys told BNS on Friday morning.
Nevertheless, he said he had no intentions of giving up his mandate.
“I see no reasons for leaving the Seimas. I see reasons why I would not be in the Seimas leadership, as this casts a shadow on the Seimas board, as I have not been granted the right to work with classified information,” said Bastys.
Asked whether the situation cast a shadow upon the whole parliament, he replied: “This is a question that prosecutors will have to answer.”
