According to the daily, education is currently trusted by 41.5 percent of respondents, down from 47 percent in an analogous survey a month ago.

Vilmorus CEO Vladas Gaidys said that the record-low confidence in the education system had to do with the higher education reform launched by the government.

Another 13.4 percent of those polled said they mistrusted the education system, up from 12.2 percent in January.

In Gaidys’ words, the highest confidence in the education system was reported in 2004 at around 70 percent.

The survey was conducted by Vilmorus pollster on Feb. 9-18 for Lietuvos Rytas daily.
