Deputy Defense Minister Giedrimas Jeglinskas and other ministry officials will unveil the plans at an event hosted by the Central Project Management Agency.
The new base in Šiauliai will be home to the Duke Margiris Infantry Battalion. The second project calls for putting in place infrastructure for the Brigadier General Motiejus Pečiulionis Artillery Battalion in Pajuris, a small town in the district of Silale, in the western part of the country. The new base in the village of Rokantiškės, in the district of Vilnius, will be used by one of the existing battalions of the Iron Wolf Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
All of the new military bases will have barracks, canteens and welfare, medical and equipment maintenance facilities, as well as other necessary infrastructure.
The minister says the three projects may cost around 90 million euros in total.
A single tender for all three projects is planned to be launched in early 2019, with contracts with an investor or investors to be signed in late 2020.
The PPP contracts will be signed for a period of 15 years, until 2035, including around two years for developing the infrastructure and the remaining 13 years for operating it.
The private investor or investors will invest their own financial resources into the military infrastructure and will take on the construction and infrastructure operation risks.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces will take over the project at a later stage.
