“I do not believe this could happen. We have said repeatedly in the past that we would never recognise the occupation and annexation of Crimea. I believe that we (EU – Elta) honour our statements and words,” the minister spoke at the Lithuanian Seimas.

According to Linkevičius, the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine is deteriorating, which is also confirmed by the new shipment of heavy artillery from Russia to the Donbass region.

“The truth is that around 40 units of heavy weaponry, including tanks, were brought from the Russian side to the vicinity of Donetsk Airport,” said the Lithuanian minister referring to the information provided by his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin.

Linkevičius stressed that the EU’s position regarding Russia would change only if Moscow’s actions matches its declared willingness to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
