Footage of Baltic naval mine explosions captured by Canadian divers

The divers had been trained as clearance divers, who are responsible for clearing mines and ordinance, but had never encountered any real naval minefields yet. “I’ve done exercises before but this is my first, actual, real, real operation when you’re dealing with real, actual mines,” LT. Joel Cormier told CBC News. “It’s very rewarding and satisfying.”

The divers published photos from underwater and a video of a surfacing explosion.

Cormier said that the team’s first week had been unlucky, as they encountered many rocks that looked just like mines but weren’t.

The Canadian divers found 2 mines, and 8 were find during the whole operation.
