Lithuania: Presidential election results in Belarus were predictable

According to the president, the question on whether the EU could lift its sanctions on Minsk is still premature.

“We need to wait some time and then we will see whether the sanctions are going to remain unchanged or not,” Grybauskaitė told reporters on Monday.

As expected, the current leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, secured a landslide victory in Sunday’s election. According to reports of the Belarusian Central Election Commission, he received 83.5 percent of the vote.
