The main problem identified by respondents in Lithuania is that prices are too high (62 percent, which is similar to the EU average of 68 percent). The second most common problem in Lithuania is that there is too little choice or no choice at all (40 percent and 51 percent, respectively), followed by difficulties in changing suppliers (38 percent and 45 percent).
Around three in four Europeans (74 percent) say that effective competition has a positive impact on them as consumers.
Eighty-seven percent of Lithuanians think that competition among companies allows for more choice for consumers and encourages innovation and economic growth, which is close to the EU average.
Eighty-five percent of Lithuanians and 74 percent of Europeans agree that competition allows for higher-quality goods and services, and 78 percent and 84 percent, respectively, agree that competition allows for better prices for consumers.
Some 26,500 people in the EU-28, including 1,000 in Lithuania, were interviewed between 8 and 10 September 2014.
