A protocol on an offence of administrative law was drawn up for Gražulis after he resisted police officers’ demands during the Baltic Pride march. The MP came to the event to show opposition to LGBT rights campaigners and was ordered by officers not to cross enter the site or cross the police line. Gražulis refused to obey and was therefore detained.
The Baltic Pride March for Equality was held on 27 July 2013.
The court acknowledged that Gražulis actively used force in order to push himself through the police cordon, shouted, resisted and ignored officers’ request to restrain himself.
The court was not able to punish the MP, because the Seimas refused to strip him of his legal immunity on 8 October 2013.
The latest ruling can be appealed to Vilnius Regional Court within 20 days.
