“The exercise focuses on simulations based on certain scenarios involving political decision-makers — the government, the Seimas and the president’s office — in order to enhance our ability to respond to threats,” Vytautas Bakas, chairman of the parliament’s Committee on National Security and Defence (CNSD), told BNS on the eve of the drill.

The exact scenario was unknown to the participants until the start of the drill, which involves the defense and foreign ministers, some members of the CNSD and advisors to the president and prime minister.

The US think tank Atlantic Council is helping to hold the exercise.

The Swedish parliament in March held its first war game exercise in 20 years. Several tens of politicians participated in the drill.
