NATO jets scrambled once to intercept Russian military aircraft

On 13 November NATO fighter jets intercepted an IL-20 electronic intelligence aircraft of the Russian Federation heading for Kaliningrad Oblast and then returning to the mainland of the Russian Federation. The aircraft was flying in accordance with a pre-filed flight plan, its pilots were not using onboard transponders but maintained radio communication with air traffic control centre.
