A transformer that had been malfunctioning was replaced on the Swedish side and the interconnector went back to full capacity last Friday.
Electricity prices in Lithuania had spiked after one of the transformers began to malfunction restricting the amount of electricity that could be
transmitted across the interconnector.
“The transformer has been changed and has been operating since last Friday,” – Litgrid spokeswoman William Railaitė said.
Meanwhile, the average price of electricity last week in the Lithuanian zone of the Nord Pool Exchange was €44.7/MWh up 25% on the previous week and up 13% on the same period last year.
Lithuania imports almost three-quarters of the electricity it consumes.
