Paluckas: Grybauskaitė helped Skvernelis start his presidential campaign

The LSDP leader emphasises that President Dalia Grybauskaitė is smoothly coasting toward the end of her term, while Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis is considering trying the post of president and the last six months of conflict between the two sides was intentional, based on the president’s response to the teachers’ strike and dismissal of ministers.

Instead of a cabinet crisis, the politician believes there is a moral crisis of disrespect to the public and teachers, which will apparently deepen if the prime minister does not make conclusions and will not seek to come to terms with trade unions.

As for the intelligence data that S. Skvernelis has brought up as of recently, G. Paluckas is convinced that this is simply a diversion, nothing new in Lithuanian politics.

“Unfortunately, the president has also abused the genre of reports, where I do not specify, what is wrong, but apparently something is because I’ve read somewhere, because there is some sort of report. Well, this genre is especially undemocratic because in the end those, who are accused, cannot even defend themselves because it is classified material, along the lines of classified and stay silent,” G. Paluckas believes, adding that an atmosphere of danger is being cultivated in an effort to manipulate and divide the public, with his party apparently having suffered from such manipulations.
