The winner of the second part of the tender, for large buses, is to be announced later.

“This tender is only part of a public transport upgrading strategy that we will continue to implement,” Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius said in a press release on Tuesday.

“The terms and conditions of the tender limit the age of vehicles to one year and require that they be equipped with air conditioners, passenger counting systems and video surveillance cameras, and be comfortable for the disabled and parents with strollers,” he said.

Under the terms and conditions of the tender, which was launched by the local authority last April, RMS and Transrevis are to supply 52 minibuses and use them to operate selected suburban routes.

Aurėlija Dermantė, head of marketing and communications at the Vilnius local authority, told BNS that the winner of the second contract would be announced later.
